Help Us Name Our Sheep!
We need your help real baaaaah-ad naming the newest enlistments to Fort Ligonier’s garrison! Two mixed Suffolk sheep from Adams Family Farm and Myers Livestock in Bedford, PA, who also happen to be twin sisters, are staying at Fort Ligonier this summer and early fall as part of our living history programming!
Fort Ligonier invites our supporters and friends to submit names with contest funds going directly to support the care of the sheep through Fort Ligonier’s History Alive! program.
Animals were a vital part of the Forbes Campaign and Fort Ligonier’s history. From 1758 to 1766, thousands of horses, cattle, pigs, goats, and sheep helped feed the soldiers and transport artillery and wagons. Most animals grazed outside the Fort with grass guards stationed close by.
Please send your name suggestion(s) through the Fort’s website with a minimum $1 donation by Monday, June 29, 2026. We will announce the two winning names on the Fort’s social media channels on Thursday, July 2, 2026!
Need inspired for a name! Stop by the Fort and meet the girls!
