About Us

Fort Ligonier is more than a national historic site. It’s more than a museum. It’s an idea. It’s the idea that every American should be able to know, value and even experience the history that shaped our nation.

Our mission is to enrich the lives of today’s citizens and future generations through education and preservation by sharing the powerful stories of Fort Ligonier that changed world history.

Through the generous support of our donors and members, we are able to maintain and sustain this significant historic site — and welcome thousands of school children, families, individuals and groups every year.

We are always seeking eager and willing individuals to assist us in our mission to share the history of Fort Ligonier. There are volunteer opportunities for both adults and children (ages 13-17). Volunteers perform a wide range of duties including but not limited to greeting visitors, providing information to enhance visitors experience to the fort and museum, assist with programs and events, and assist behind the scenes.

The volunteer enrollment process consists of the following steps: submission of the volunteer application, meeting with a member of the volunteer management team and completion of a self-paced orientation.
