Fort Ligonier’s fearless leader Annie Urban, possesses the same attributes as the 18th century military generals and colonels whose time at Fort Ligonier changed world history. Her leadership, courage, determination, and indomitable spirit has changed Fort Ligonier’s present-day history. Ms. Urban successfully spearheaded the Fort’s Fortifying Our Future Campaign and led the charge on the historic site and museum’s magnificent expansion, renovation, and restoration project.
Ms. Urban is passionate about the Ligonier Valley and the Laurel Highlands Region. Prior to joining the Fort’s team in 2008 as the Director of Development and Marketing, she led the region’s tourism marketing efforts as the Executive Director of the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau. Her business acumen and leadership skills were developed early in her career in her management roles in the hotel industry. Ms. Urban holds a B.S. in Business Management from Seton Hill University and a M.A. in Tourism Administration from The George Washington University. She has served as adjunct faculty at Seton Hill and received the University’s 2014 Distinguished Alumna Leadership Award for Service.
Dr. Erica I. Nuckles
Director of History and Collections
Since 2014, Dr. Nuckles has served as Fort Ligonier’s Director of History and Collections. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Wyoming, a M.A. in Museum Studies from The George Washington University, and a Ph.D. from the University at Albany, SUNY.
As Fort Ligonier’s steward of history, Dr. Nuckles created the content, spearheaded the design, and oversaw the installation of the renowned museum’s stunning new exhibits and galleries. Her love of Fort Ligonier and French and Indian War history developed as a young child while she and her family spent many weekends participating as reenactors in living history events at the Fort and other historic sites. Her dream to serve as Fort Ligonier’s historian and curator has been incredibly rewarding and she is thrilled to steer Fort Ligonier’s historical path into the future.
