The New American Revolution Film – One Hour Screener – Free Event!

Join Fort Ligonier on the Road to Revolution and watch a FREE, one-hour screener of THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, a new film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein & David Schmidt in collaboration with WQED Multimedia at the Fort Ligonier Center for History Education. Footage was shot at Fort Ligonier and is in the final cut of the six-part documentary!

Fort Ligonier welcomed Florentine Films in September 2023 who shot footage in both the Upper and Lower Fort of the soldier’s barracks, surgeon’s hut, and hospital ward. We received a message that footage shot at the historic site made the final cut of The American Revolution, which begins airing on PBS stations beginning November 16th and running for six consecutive nights.

The documentary focuses on the thirteen American colonies who unite in rebellion, win an eight-year war to secure their independence, and establish a new form of government that would inspire democratic movements at home and around the globe. What begins as a political clash between colonists and the British government grows into a bloody struggle that will engage more than two dozen nations and forever change the world.
