New America250 Exhibit Opens 4th of July!
10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Fort Ligonier commemorates America's 250th anniversary with a new special exhibit To Rise and Fight Again, The Road to Revolution Begins at Fort Ligonier.
The new exhibit highlights the stories of soldiers stationed at Fort Ligonier during the French and Indian War who would also become involved with the American Revolution 20 years later.
Some figures, including George Washington and Arthur St. Clair, remain familiar today, while others have been forgotten. Each faced a choice between loyalty to king and country they had sworn to serve and allegiance to the place they called home and its promise of independence. For some, the decision was clear; for others, it was far more difficult. Through objects, documents, and artifacts from Fort Ligonier’s collection and loans from cultural institutions such as Mount Vernon and the Museum of the American Revolution, this new exhibit shares the soldiers’ stories and offers visitors a personal look at the choices made.
The new temporary exhibit will be on display throughout 2026.
