History Alive! Meet the Sheep!

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

This weekend's History Alive! programming features our two new ewes who also happen to be twin sisters!

Why are there two ewes (female sheep) living at the Fort this summer and fall? They are a distinctive feature of our History Alive! program. Animals were a vital part of the Forbes Campaign and Fort Ligonier’s history. From 1758 to 1766, thousands of horses, cattle, pigs, goats, and sheep helped feed the soldiers and transport the artillery and wagons. Most animals grazed outside the Fort with grass guards stationed close by.

History Alive! is generously funded by Americana Corner Preserving America Partners Program.

History Alive! programs are included with regular admission fees and are always free to Fort Ligonier Association members.
