History Alive! Meet the Canadian Milice

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Meet historical interpreters Jake Kirsch and Matt Moore who portray Canadian Milice (militia) and learn about the fur trade.

The fur trade was one of the contributing factors of the French and British conflict in western Pennsylvania during the mid-18th century. Jake and Matt will engage visitors with their knowledge of the French fur trade and provide insight into the stories of the French combatants of the Battle of the Monongahela, and the lives of the colonists of New France.

History Alive! is a seasonal program at Fort Ligonier that provides an engaging experience for visitors to learn about the daily life of a frontier military outpost in North America during the 18th century. Weekends feature 18th century artisans, tradesmen, musicians, historical military units, and more who depict the culture and lifestyle of the colonial era.

History Alive! is made possible by Americana Corner’s Preserving America Partners program.
