History Alive! Featuring the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment of Foote

Captain Thomas Graham's Company makes a special appearance at the Fort this weekend to kick off our 2026 History Alive! Living History Program!

Visitors can interact with the historical interpreters who represent the 42nd Regiment of Foote and learn about their crucial role not only in the Fort Ligonier story but the French and Indian War. From the taking of Fort Duquesne during the Forbes Campaign of 1758 to the Battle of Bushy Run and the relief of Fort Pitt during Pontiac’s War of 1763 this Highlander regiment is legendary.

History Alive! is an engaging experience for visitors to learn about the daily life of a frontier military outpost in North America during the 18th century. Weekends feature 18th century artisans, tradesmen, musicians, historical military units, and more who depict the culture and lifestyle of the colonial era.
