Veterans Archaeology Program
10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Juniata College and veterans search for archaeological evidence of an outlying artillery battery and line of communication that covered the approach to the fort’s main gate.
Archaeology and historic preservation, led by Dr. Jonathan Burns will be highlighted to the public, while exploring the wellness benefits of archaeological fieldwork to military veterans. Evidence suggests that the mental and physical benefits of fieldwork are therapeutic to veterans transitioning back to civilian life.
Visitors are invited to engage with the archaeology team and veterans during their excavation work.
