Scout Day is geared toward creating a positive learning environment for boy and girl scouts that includes historical elements of Fort Ligonier, many fundamentals found in scouting and fun activities. Throughout the day, scouts will move throughout multiple stations for an enjoyable historical experience. You can register as a troop or individually.

Knot Tying – The skills scouts use today were used in the 1700s! Participate in this station where scouts will learn a few knots and put their skills to the test.
Clothing of the Time – Fashion is important and it was during the French and Indian War too. Learn about the different styles of clothing for the British, French, and Native Americans. (For All Ages)
Marching and Drilling– Discipline in the military is a crucial element to making sure it functions in times of War. Join the provincials and learn how to march and drill like the soldiers would have at Fort Ligonier in 1758.
Create Your Own Regimental Flag – Flags are a very noticeable element of warfare, and some still exist from the French and Indian War. Many of the regiments had their own flags that would be carried into battle. Create your own Regimental Flag to take home with you!
Mock Cannon Firing – Cannons, Mortars, and Howitzers… OH MY! These types of weapons could change the course of a battle in moments. Learn about how these weapons work and participate in a mock cannon firing!
Tour of Fort – Learn more about the Fort that made Pittsburgh possible. Explore the buildings with a guide who will tell you their purpose and how they tie into the Forbes campaign and the French and Indian War.
Self-Guided tour of the Museum – Fort Ligonier’s Museum is full of artifacts you can see nowhere else on earth. The story told in the exhibits not only focuses on Fort Ligonier, but the entire Seven Years War, which occurred around the globe. Take this time to explore the exhibits and see the artifacts from this time period.
Fort Ligonier has hosted camporees and would welcome the opportunity to design an unforgettable gathering. We will help you plan activities and provide opportunities for scouts to test their preparation and skills in an extraordinary atmosphere.
